If one attends a German class in Switzerland what flavor of German is taught there? Is it the German standard "Hochdeutsch"? If so, where are the teachers of German courses from? Are they exclusively native Germans or are German speaking Swiss and Austrians also accepted as teachers?
What flavor of German is taught in schools in French and Italian speaking areas of Switzerland?
Just asking out of curiosity...
On another note, if a German speaking Swiss meets an Italian speaking compatriot, which language do they typically choose to communicate? I can imagine that near the language borders people are bilingual and pick a language ad hoc, but what happens elsewhere? Is there a rule or an observable trend?
