School presentation

Post by just_me »

Hi there!
I have an assignment that I have to make a presentation about traveling. I decided to make it about beautiful places in my country (English is not my first language so I'm sorry if i made mistakes). So my question is: what is the difference between these two sentences? Which one I should choose? (it's suppose to be the title of my presentation)

  1. Top 10 best and beautiful places in Poland
  2. 10 best and the most beautiful places in Poland
Also if you guys have some advice on how to make good presentations, I would be very grateful for each one of them. <333

I would have gone with " The 10 most beautiful places in Poland "

Then you have to justify why they are the best. Is it 10 places you like ? Do you choose the 10 with the highest amount of visitors per year ? You could list the by the amount it costs to visit them.

It is your top ten. Do you start with number ten and count down to the very best. It is time to start planning. Good luck.

This tourism site list them like this.... https://www.touropia.com/tourist-attra ... -poland/

In English, you mean?

  1. sounds a bit wrong, because it mixes a superlative adjective (best) and a simple adjective (beautiful).

  2. has the two superlatives "best" and "most beautiful", which balances it, but it still sounds a bit wrong because of where the single "the" is placed.

I'm not sure how formal your presentation is supposed to be, but for example, to make your two examples sound more natural (grammatically) in English you could say something like, "The 10 best and most beautiful places in Poland", or, "The 10 best and the 10 most beautiful places in Poland.

(The point being that a single "The" at the beginning encompasses both "best" and "beautiful", and means that you are talking about 10 places in total, but the second example would suggest that you are talking about 20 places - 10 cool for some reason, and 10 beautiful)
