Re: arbre/tree
https://www-internal.duolingo.com/learn
Ou
duome.eu/<votre nom>/tree
Re: arbre/tree
in the very beginning the design looked like this so it was like a tree with branches

Re: arbre/tree

LICA98 when was that? Have you been one of the first learners of Duolingo?

I joined in June 2013 but the site was created already in 2011

Bonjour

Re: arbre/tree
I notice that the Busuu annual subscription is considerably less expensive in the EU than Duolingo SUPER.
The most popular BUSUU plan costs €3.50 per month or €41.94 billed annually. (let's round it to €42 per year). The platform is a lot better than is DL with videos with real speakers (not synthesized voices) and an on-line support from native speakers of your target language. (That works both ways for learners wanting to learn your native language). Busuu pretends that their English course may bring you to CEFR level C1 when fully completed.
Here is a benchmark video of BUSUU versus Duolingo (but it has been recorded before the path/snake was introduced).
With SUPER you mainly get some improvement of your mobile 'environment': unlimited hearts and add-free experience. More specific speaking and listening training are possible, all the rest is an edge you have over other users in gamification. Using the website, you are even less incentivized ever to buy SUPER. In the EU, a SUPER subscription comes at a cost of €7.99 per month if paid up-front annually. Rounded that makes €96 per year. A steep price for the poor extra's provided.
Are there any advantages to using DL over BUSUU? Yes: DL offers more languages than does BUSUU. You also can choose among several teaching languages (though with a more narrow target language choice).
BUSUU has 14 languages on offer. I can switch over the BUSUU site to several other languages (even Turkish). I presume at least English and possibly a few more courses are available from those languages. Full fledged laddering seems unlikely? Non-English speaking Busuu users, please comment.

Re: arbre/tree
Yet, you can also use Duolingo at no cost, and duolingo is remaining true to its original commitment is it provides even those that do not subscribe with the same course content.
You do not need to subscribe to get full access to course content.
These are the listed advantages of subscribing to Duolingo.
No ads: Learn without interruptions
Unlimited Hearts: Enable unlimited hearts so mistakes won't slow you down
Mistakes Review: Make a mistake? No problem, you'll receive a personalized lesson to practice your mistakes.
Unlimited attempts at Legendary challenges: Prove your skills by earning a Legendary trophy!
Though for me, the most impressive things is :
As a Super Duolingo subscriber, you support Duolingo's mission to keep education free for millions around the world. Please note that there are not new lessons in Super Duolingo. The lesson content with the free version is the same as Super Duolingo.
Though I always recommend it is best to learn and engage with as many language learning opportunities as you can, and are interested in. It will super charge your learning.
That is also why I share reference information on the Duolingo course structure.
Not just to give educators insight on how to utilize Duolingo to assist teaching.
Equally importantly to provide a resource for motivated students to walk back over the "path", or strive to get to a certain Unit - in order to enhance learning a word or topic that is of interest to them. To take control of their own learning, and also encourage serendipitous learning from other resources.
Does BUSUU give you a course overview etc that would also allow you to do that ?
Are there other resources / courses that give you overviews like that (someone else may know ? ) ?
