Why is Duo using "mon" instead of "ma" with the word "actrice?

Post by vakhanka »

Hello, i was served the interaction with the word "actrice" today that used "cette" in one sentence and "mon" in the next. I don't understand why it would be "mon" instead of "ma" since the word "actrice" is feminine. Both sentences below were written by Duo not by myself. I just had to select it as part of a dialogue.

Any help?

  • tu connais cette actrice?
  • oui, c'est mon actrice préférée

You always use "mon" instead of "ma" when the following word starts with a vowel. It's the same like in english with "an" instead of "a" ("an appel" but "a small apple")
This is my spider = c'est mon araignée
But
This is my little spider = c'est ma petite araignée
