Out of Lingots

Post by Steven683729 »

Hey everyone. :0). I saw someone mention that you can still go for the Ledgendary Level without using Lingots, or if you do not have anymore Lingots. Does anyone know how to do that? Thanks

Jfyi, I'm from the US and studying Mandarin Chinese.

You could buy the paid version of Duolingo, I suppose? Paying subscribers do not spend lingots on Lengendary lessons.

Did you check the App? Maybe you have gems available. In the App you can also buy gems, maybe it costs less than a subscription.

Ask DaliborNovy for the details, it was his experience that without lingots (or with less than 10 lingots) you can do all the legendary lessons for free, if you type addresses of those lessons. However, it was before the "snake" design appeared (and it did not work for me because of some reason - maybe because of some kind of mistake on my side, when I tried, so, I used the 2 weeks of free Duolingo Plus back then to the fullest and have not needed that since then).

Steven683729 Yes, it was only tested on the Tree. I haven't tested it on the One path and I won't. But it is possible it can also work using similar direct URL's (https://www.duolingo.com/lesson....). You can see the format when you make a standard legendary unit in the One path.

For the Tree, you can use a direct URL , e.g. https://www.duolingo.com/skill/cs/Phrases ("cs" is the course, "Phrases" is the name of the five-crown skill). Or you can use https://duome.eu/YourUsername/progress and click on a five-crown skill on the Tree. If you have less than 10 lingots, the legendary level will increase for free after completing the lesson. You can see it on the Tree user interfaces - https://duome.eu/YourUsername/progress and https://www-internal.duolingo.com/learn .

There is one more way to go Legendary without using any lingots at all than DaliborNovy mentioned here: If you create a classroom for yourself in DuolingoSchools (the globe icon on your Duolingo ".../learn" page or become a student/member of a classroom of someone else, you have all the Legendary lessons for free, regardless how many lingots you have. If you are registered (absolutely no payment is needed for that) as a student of any classroom in Duolingo Schools, you can do unlimited amounts of Legendary lessons without Duolingo Super/Plus or lingots and keep collecting lingots without loosing any for doing Legendary lessons. (Well, you still need lingots to preserve your streak if you miss a day or two, but diligent students do not need that anyway ;-) ).

Far too late for a reply, but if anyone else has this question, you use the app. Gems are far more easily amassed than lingots.

Alternatively you can create a duo classroom and you never need to worry about gems or lingots again.
