The names of the Alphabet are different in Italian !

Post by dakanga »

I did know this was the case. From other experiences and learning I have done.

That the sounds letters make, is different to the names that these letters are given.

And these names are different - the names given to the letters - in different languages.

I knew this.

But, last night - and this morning ... I was "caught out".

Just consider the name of the letter "c", with what we call it in English, and that of its name is Italian.

Can someone help me explain this ?
Perhaps also including the history of how this has possibly happened.

Another favorite letter of mine, is that of "K"

Do others have some other letter names they would like to talk about ?

For an American classic - that I also consider was about this issue - I put up for consideration "The Grapes of Wrath".

Do others have other Stories that talk about this issue ?
Do others have other ... ethos's, religious / cultural sayings that talk to this issue ?
