Can I have two favorites?

These two words are actually a little similar.

نور (Pronunciation in English = nour)

Nour means light.

I also like the word يشع. (Pronunciation in English = yashie)

يشع means to glow to radiate.

그래서 (geu-rae-seo) which means “so” or “so, what?” in Korean.
I know not a big meaning but I just like its pronunciation.

In Spanish, I liked pingüino (because of the three dots in a row), and cocodrilo with its displaced r.

My favourites in Spanish are either cucaracha (cockroach), or serreta chica, which is Smew (Mergus albellus).

I'm as dry as a mouse and don’t use this anymore.

My favorite word in Italian is stronzo (asshole, sod). In Napoletan dialect it's strunz. That reminds me of the 1994 soccer world championship when there was a German player called Strunz. I stayed near Naples at that time and watched the transmission of a match of the German team. Whenever the reporter said "Strunz", my friends bended with laughter: "Ma chi è chistu strunz?" Some years later the legendary Italian trainer Giovanni Trappatoni, who was in charge of the Bayern Munich team, gave a statement on TV criticizing his team and this Strunz, saying: "Was erlauben Strunz?" (What allow himself strunz)). The video is still available: ][/img]

Haha, I'm not sure what my favorite word in my target language is! I don't do it much, but I think it is hilarious to learn mild curse words in foreign languages, and just baffle your friends, as they have no idea what you're saying. Aside from that, I really like the Russian word for potato, картошка (kartoshka). I also REALLY like the word for darkness in Japanese, 暗闇(kurayami), enough that I made it the last of many characters in games that I play.

For whatever reason, I’m stuck on “Fromage.” It’s probably because I love seeing the cheeses in France , just like in Italy.
@jack079 Your answer reminds me of being little and when asked what flavor of ice cream I wanted on my cone , I would say , Can I have my two favorites?”

Always trying to sneak in two scoops instead of one. :)

I’ve been studying Hebrew on and off for 12 years but I've had very little opportunity or reason to use it for the last 6 years. I was about to relocate to Israel in 2014 for the job but my circumstances have changed. My last trip to Israel was in Jan 2015, since then I didn't have anyone to talk to in real life, and I forgot a lot. Now I find I can still understand some spoken Hebrew, but writing feels like a real challenge. I really want to get back into it as it’s such a shame to have lost it. Unfortunately, I am not a Jew, but I am in love with the language :)

In Danish it is "spørgsmål" (question), just because I like how the word sounds.

Talking about something bigger that one word, I like the expression "at slå ihjel", which means "to kill", but "at slå" alone means to hit or to beat, and "ihjel" come from "i hel" (in hell). So, it can be understood as "to send someone to hell by beating them", even though the expression can mean any way of killing, not just beating. I think it is epic.

"До свидания" (do svidan'ja) or like the English "bye bye" you can say "пока пока" (paka paka).

I like the soft sound of "До свидания" and the polish "Do widzenia" though I wouldn't say that it is my favorite word.

And in Polish you can say "Pa pa" for bye bye. I learned that this is often also used in Austria though there it is rather pronounced as "ba ba"

Hi, my favorite Ukrainian word is "сорочка" = "shirt" in English, and in my Polish language it reminds me of the word "sroczka" - diminutive of "sroka" = magpie and it sounds so nice that I liked it right away! hehe :)

I would like to add that "сорочка" and "sroczka" - they rhyme nicely!

.... and in Swedish I like the word "och" = "and" in English, and in Polish "och" - it's delight, surprise and reminds me of this song:

Cheers! 😊
