Re: What is the story behind your username?
I think it's okay to have various names. It's fun to know the name of the world.

My first name is Paul. I used to live in a place with the suffix bottle. So paulbottle. A friend pointed out that I also drank a lot of Pils out of bottles, so serindipity. I can't spell, I drank a lot of Pils!

Oh, uhm are you okay now? You drank a lot of pills?

Pils short for Pilsner and meant a lot of beer back in the day. Just don’t want anyone to feel alarmed.
My username consists of three parts each with a capital letter.
Swe for Swedish, the first language I started learning on DuoLingo
Ned for Nederlands, which is how we call our language 'Dutch'.
Guy actually is my name, but this sounds odd in the US... not in the UK because a guy is more often called a bloke or a lad.
SweNedGuy is also my Duolingo user name. In the 'leagues' I tuned Guy to its Spanish equivalent 'Guillermo'.
My owl avatar comes from a late 1970's comic for children.
MoniqueMaRie wrote: ↑Sun Jul 10, 2022 7:59 amSo Guy is short for William (as Guillermo is the Spanish form of William)?
That's correct. Guy is shorthand in French for Guillaume, which even remotely sounds like William.

Pils is beer, not pills out of bottles!
Ok, I saw that comment earlier, I had no idea! I'm sorry-

Don’t be sorry. It was a nice and caring comment.
Good day now!
Ooo! I'm almost at 100 posts! I remember when I needed 10 posts to be approved by mods.

I'm still trying to get to my 10. Oh, look! This one makes 7!
zerogrqvity , you do have an option to edit your posts, so if there's more to say AND there are no replies to your last post yet, feel free to edit instead of making a series of short posts like you just did, which is actually double posting and it's usually "strongly discouraged" on any forum. We aren't as strict and we don't have a rule for this, but still... let's make this forum a bit more readable together
Plus , “Edit “ button is so easy to use. I do it all the time.
It's probably pretty typical. Elmer is my cat's name, and I thought he would make a good Ramone.

Yes it was and it is nice to be considerate. Thank you, Paul. Sorry this took so long to respond but nothing to worry about!
My username is just my name, Rosie, spelt with as many numbers as possible:
r - R - the set of real numbers
o - 0 - zero
s - 5 - five
i - i - the imaginary unit
e - 2.71828... - Euler's number
because I like maths
I named one of my old hamsters Rosie! It's a cute name!
I am Paul The Good.
Mine is just a funny way that a friend in high school pronounced my name. I first made it my username on Snapchat in 2010 and it just stuck.
Mine is just the variant of David which a lot of people do happen to call me in real life, although I did deliberately decide to use this "matey" variant online to maybe make things ever so slightly less easy for automated bots to track me and rob my identity....Yes, I know, but every little helps and all that! Anyway, I like it.
The numbers are just the autogenerated numbers Duolingo used to fill up the spaces when I signed up, and I kept them because they are somehow, by chance, really easy to remember.

I found this fantastic video explaining about how to change French words into English. Three tricks which often work (and why) :
I got the name of the Country! I got Squirrel, too !
Thank you ,SweNedGuy
French is my target !
This is so interesting..
Davey944676 My dads name is David!
One single point of critic on the Video "How to translate French words into English":
In the W versus GU debate (with William being the logical equivalent of Guillaume), it has been suggested that this originates from the Normands having adopted this from Norse. There is no evidence for this, moreover the letter 'w' is never used in today's Norwegian nor in Swedish. Historically the Vikings used a Rune alphabet of which some leftovers have been used in medieval English.
French toponyms rarely start with 'w', but quite a few examples are near the Channel coast or in the North. This seems to confirm the extended historic use of the 'w' in old regional languages in the North-West and North of France. Walloon also used the 'w'
The 'w" consonant is often used in Dutch and German, though Germans consistently pronounce it 'v". In the north of the Netherlands this consonant shift is also predominant. The Flemish are about the only continental Germanic language speakers pronouncing the 'w' properly.
In Classical Latin the 'v' used to be pronounced 'w'. This has shifted to 'v' in medieval ecclesiastic Latin. The letter 'w' is itself relatively recent, hence its name 'double u' (E), 'double v'(F) and 'doble v' (Sp) in some languages.
Just my name. I'm not very creative when it comes to picking user names. Sometimes I'll hear/see something and think "oh, that would make a great user name the next time I need one! And of course, by the time I need it I've forgotten it and can't think of a thing!
Oh boy, this is a story! My username at the time of writing this, eaglefin31, was a username that I didn't really make. It started when I was 6 and I started playing the game "Spirit Animals". I wasn't old enough to pay attention to the name suggestions, so I just clicked my way through it. I remembered the username when I began playing other games, and my username was always some variant, be it eaglefin or eaglefin31. If you've played a game like World of Tanks, PUBGM, or Roblox and seen that name, it was probably me! I've recently been phasing to a newer name though, Hadoshi Kurayami. Hadoshi is the main character in a manga I'm currently writing the script for, and he's kind of a badass, so I enjoy using his name as my new username. Plus, it just sounds really cool. Well, that's my story of how I have the usernames that I have today!
Cool story!
Here's my story:
One day back during the quarantine, I was thinking about a good general username to use for my sites and platforms. For some reason, the word "hellbender" came to my mind (really random, honestly don't know why, but I hope this word is not against the guidelines because it's just a part of another word). I decided to play around with this word to make it sound more positive, so I decided to make my username HeavenBender, a hellbender that dwells in the presence of the Almighty God.
