It asked me to translate the above sentence. I went back and forth between a tomato and tomatoes and finally decided on the singular. So I translated the sentence as "A tomato and a cucumber are vegetables." DL said that was wrong and that the correct answer is "Tomatoes and cucumbers are vegetables."
So, on the one hand, why wasn’t my translation correct? How would one say "A tomato and a cucumber are vegetables?"
On the other hand, why wouldn’t the Hebrew for "tomatoes and cucumbers are vegetables" use עגבנית and מלפפונים?
