Your duolingo forum registration isn't automaticaly transferred to duome forum so in order to join duome forums you need to register with your existing or any other username and email; in any case it's advised that you choose a new password for the forum.

We can’t change them on our own. You need to ask a mod.

Mods cannot change usernames on demand. I'm afraid you will have to create a new account.

I’m pretty sure that @Duome is able to change usernames. If they are free, perhaps you might ask them?
