Post by Kelikaku »

Write this in English

Seo Mòrag agus Anna.
These are Morag and Anna.
Here are Mòrag and Anna.

Correct solution:
This is Morag and Anna.

The solution seems to be erroneous.

===================

There is a missing plural tense, in the solution - and the system marks the correctly pluralised sentence as incorrect.

It’s a bit unusual to say “These are Morag and Anna”. It sounds a bit rude. ( these what?) You could say “ These girls are Morag and Anna” or Here are Morag and Anna. You could even say “here’s Morag and Anna now”
Colloquial English is not rigidly grammatical. It’s the same in French, where it’s common to say “c’est” even for multiple objects.

Seo means here in Gaelic, but you can’t always translate literally.

This is Morag and Anna works fine. "These are Morag and Anna" sounds very awkward to me, it doesn't sound like you're talking about actual humans.

And is a conjunction that joins two sentences. In this case, the two sentences are Seo Mòrag and Seo Anna. I have never heard two or more people being referred to by these.
