It's pretty off-topic but I could not resist meddling in. The first time I heard "l'hexagone" long time ago I looked at the map and it rang the bell immediately. I like this comparison a lot. Just like the italian boot...

it's "l'hexagone" in French ;-)

but no -e in English, German, nor Swedish.

  • German: Hexagon (no final -e)
  • Swedish: hexagon

and here some more, ending on -o

  • Spanish: hexágono
  • Italian: esagono
  • Portuguese: hexágono

PS: German and Dutch also have "Sechseck" resp. "Zeshoek"
