I guess they expect users to do the beta testing for free.
As if it had ever been any different at Duolingo in the last 9 years
I only know that DL staff inquired about some alpha tests when they started working on a new EN->ES CEFR course.
I think I'll stick with EN->FR for a while as it's not AI generated content, AFAIK.
Next question is how many contractors or linguistic staff is left to do any reviews, bugfixes, etc.
I only know that they haven't renewed several contractors Q4 / end of 2023 which was posted on Reddit.
Any deadline pressure is contra productive for quality of content.
I don't believe theres a QC department where people are instructed to test the app or new courses for several weeks or months.
Always felt like code gets directly released from a trunk/master developer repository.
Would take significant man power and money to review course content before they globally roll it out to test A/B groups.
In other language pairs the AIgen content was heavily criticized already.
Especially with German as a native language where sentences don't make much sense, I heard.
I don't have immediate plans to start the new DE->PT course.
For my changed EN->PT course I first need to find a way to retest out of units on a review level without having to redo all path levels / lessons manually (for units which haven't been reset).
