The idiomatic (or non-referential) clitics: la, lo, are widely used in Spanish, especially the first one:
- agarrarla [contra alguien] → hold [against someone]
- armársele [un problema a alguien] → get into [a problem]
- arreglárselas [para resolver algo] → manage [to solve something]
- buscársela → ask for it
- cagarla → screw it up
- dárselas [de algo] → make oneself out to be [something]
- gozarla → enjoy it
- guardársela [a alguien] → hold a grudge [against someone]
- habérselas [con alguien] → deal [with someone]
- ingeniárselas [para resolver algo] → figure out [to solve something]
- joderla → screw it up
- jugárselo [todo] → gamble [everything]
- perdérselo → miss it
- traérselas [con alguien] → hold [against someone]
- verlas [venir] → see them [come]
As seen from the examples, the clitic "la" tends to be more common, however, in European Spanish a few verbs prefer "lo" (e.g. "pasárselo").
