Turkish grammar please help

Post by MarjanZahedi »

Hi, could you please explain to me why here it is saatte.
Why did you leave the school at this time?
Neden okuldan bu saatte ayrıldınız?
To me it needs to be saatta. I don’t understand the e at the end and according to my knowledge so far it has to be saatta.
Teşekkür ederim

This one is only different because it is an Arabic-origin word that does not follow Turkish vowel harmony. These you have to learn one-by-one -- but you can always check them in a good dictionary.

You'll find -ti in these entries -- telling you it shifts from the ı/a vowel harmony that you expect to i/e vowel harmony.
