Italian not being popular with Gen Z in US

From recent DL blog: "Gen Z learners tend to study Japanese, while their parents and grandparents study Italian!"

Ironic for Italiano being the language of a country with one of the coolest, most stylish cultures in the world! (Not that the Japanese language and culture shouldn't be treasured in their own right.) Oh well, who is this Boomer/X'er to talk, his being turned on to such a lovely, melodic tongue through lurid Italian horror flicks, strangely enough.

Functional and aspirational bio: Linguaphile, systems and process thinker; deep syncretist. Organic farmer, eco-agriculturalist and agro-technologist. Civilizational scholar, ideator and activist. Visionary, futurist and multidoer in holistic Divine love!
