We do have a welcome topic, but it wasn't meant to be (or it didn't become) a place to introduce yourself, if you like. This here is the right place to do it if you're a newcomer
Please, make sure that you read our Forum Guidelines.
You can use any username that you like when you join duome forum, yet it's better if you use your existing Duolingo username to unlock some extra features and avoid confusion while troubleshooting; in any case it's advised that you choose a different password for the forum.

Welcome / introduce yourself
Re: Welcome / introduce yourself
I am doing the Duolingo Hebrew course.
I have also created a webpage with resources for learning Hebrew. It is here:

Hi Leon, what is your target language and how are you getting on with all the changes in Duolingo?

Re: I'm LEON
80k XPs in only three months?
It took me about 2.5-3.0 years to sum up 30k XPs on the web portal to reach the XP level 25 (is only visible in Duome now) while learning Portuguese.
With all these double and triple boosters on the mobile app, League challenges, match pair exercises up to XP 140/150 on the last level XPs pretty much have become meaningless.

Re: I'm LEON
It's nice that DL staff offers English content up to B2 CEFR level (their rating, not mine) with up to 305 units, even for Czech as a base language.
John Little wrote: Mon Oct 27, 2025 6:10 amhow are you getting on with all the changes in Duolingo?
50 skills/unit got changed in his Czech->English course.
A lot of skills have been reset and contain missing lessons.
I'm not sure how this effect his path UI on the web or the app.
Sadly to say, there's no easy way to completely reset single units or to test them out again.
For my EN->FR course only 5 skills have been changed but I can't even directly jump back into the last review level / lesson.
For all these course changes the old tree design and crown levels were much easier to handle.
Course updates have become a mess on this inflexible path UI.
Often a complete course reset is the best when new content gets added.
But this means all 80k XPs will be gone.

Hi Marvel. Are you on the free version or one of the pay plans? If you're using the free version (like most if us) are you still on hearts or have you changed to the energy thing?

Dont panic. Just keep an eye on your energy and make sure you start a lesson with no less than 15 energy points. If its below, watch an advert or two to bring it back up.

Hi. I came back because I didn't have anyone to commiserate with about the changes in Duolingo that I don't like.
Only half serious.
Did anyone miss me?

There’s been so much wailing and gnashing of teeth around here from the other thousands of disgruntled Duolingo survivors that your disappearance barely registered on the Richter scale.
But hey, maybe the 1,001st voice of despair will finally be the one that shakes HQ into fixing anything. We just all need to gather in a circle, hold hands, stare solemnly at the Pleiades this August, and make a collective wish upon the shooting stars. If that doesn’t work, well… at least we’ll have a nice group cry.
Thats the other half of your serious

Re: Welcome / introduce yourself
Though I'm with Clozemaster now I'll happily join the circle and hold hands in memory of what a great site Duo was, and could still be, if they would just listen.

Oh, I don't have any hope that my voice of complaint will make a difference. Just want to vent a little.

It was Starry Night with a TARDIS, same as my DL avatar used to be till they made them all generic faces. I'll have to go look for it.

Hello.
Hello. My name is Sceofno, and I was on the Duolingo forums from around 2020. I don't know if any of you remember me, but my posts then are incredibly different from the posts that I create today on several forums.
Now I'm in high school, and my life has changed quite a lot. I learned Spanish and French to fluency thanks to Duolingo and some fluent speakers; I have branched out into different forums like politics, philosophy, and baseball; and I am excited to have coincidentally found this forum.
I don't know if this forum is still active like the other one--I hope it is, but my realist side says no. It would be incredible if anyone remembers me from the olden days...
Any-hoot, have a good day!

Hi Sceofno. Welcome (back). I never had the pleasure of the old official duolingo forum. I didnt start until July 21 and found this place looking for help with Portuguese and have found more than answers here.
Your politics and philosophy courses might come in handy here at times. So welcome and spare us a little of your "forum time".
Oh, and Happy Christmas!

I can't remember your name either.
In 2020, I was mainly on the Duolingo French forum.
Which forums were you on back then?
Here is an overview of the saved posts from the former Duolingo forum.
Perhaps you can still find your old posts.
