Translate Book Inscription, Hebrew to English

That's actually Yiddish, but I cannot decipher the second word. It says
דאר _____ מיט א גרוס
[insert signature]

which means

The [name I cannot read] with a greeting.

Please don't apologize, there is no way to know that unless you can read it. Both languages use the Hebrew letters after all.
I need to correct myself though. After realizing that the signature is that of Theodor Bikel himself (in Latin letters actually, not Hebrew letters), it's clearer now that the first letter is actually a
ד and not a פ,
meaning the first word is פאר,
which means "for".
(Sorry for the terrible formatting, this right-to-left is otherwise making a mess)

I still cannot read the name it was dedicated to.
It seems to start with a
ב and end on a ל, then an ש
Possibly Shloyb (which is the Yiddish form of Salomon) or Shelev. Perhaps you know if the person whom this book belong(ed) to had a name similar to that.

So in full, it says:

For [Shloyb or some other name]
with a greeting.

I'm afraid that's all I can decipher there.
