This possibility (Profile/Edit Profile) is only available when you post at least 10 comments.
Thanks for flagging this.
Dear anyone,
Your duolingo forum registration isn't automaticaly transferred to duome forum so in order to join duome forums you need to register with your existing or any other username and email; in any case it's advised that you choose a new password for the forum.

Well, I feel that this might have been useful at some point, but now it's just dumb. Most of use newbies here just desperately look for a way to link the accounts, and now we have to write useless comments to be able to do exactly that. Strange.
I think the original method doesn't work anymore. I tried a couple of times when I first joined and then decided it wasn't important enough to spend more time on.
I think you need to get out of the newly registered user group before this option is available.
@JudieLC Still not available?

I haven't tried recently. I tried a few times each time the subject came up, and it never worked for me.
I'm on private mode now, so I think it definitely won't work right now.
@JudieLC I've never tried it. It looks complicated. I just put a link to my Duome stats in my signature.

I don't think it would be that complicated if it actually worked. The instructions are simple enough. It has just never worked for me.
DaliborNovy wrote: ↑Tue Feb 14, 2023 8:33 am@JudieLC I think we're home. You have to replace it here: https://www.duolingo.com/settings/account . Now replace only the "Name" field . Forget about the experiment above.
Thank you for the explanation! The verify thingy does lead to the Duo profile but only after reading your explanation I understood what to do.
I cannot link it, as I cannot change my name to the verifying text(it stays as my current username). Thanks in advance!
@Xynox121 Don't change the Username, but Name. But it won't work now, maybe for a few days.

Where is the Name option? I don't see it...
How does this work, once you get it working?

It's here: https://www.duolingo.com/settings/account

Where? All I see is this:
Thank you, but it did not work for me. I am a new user. Is this normal?
I think you're supposed to do it on this website, but I'm not sure.
Did you try again now? When you're a really new user it may not work, but I haven't done this myself to know if it works or not.

Thank you so much! It worked!
@Xynox121 It seems some users don' t have the option. But, I think @duome said it should work even with the Username now. So try again.

It will not work for very new users, but you can unlock this feature when you become a little more active.
Linking works if you have at least a few messages on duome.eu AND if you have your NAME field available for editing on duolingo.com; I don't think it was ever intended to work with a username field; it may not work if your duome.eu progress page is currently in cached mode. I think that "too many requests" issue must affect the forum as well because we share the same IP address, the forum and duome.eu itself.
I can actually do automatic linking if everyone is ok with that, but that's at least questionable - to do it without asking.
But we can have the "yes, please, link my profile" field in forum settings - to let duome know that it's ok.

I already did it, but thanks!
duome wrote: ↑Tue Feb 14, 2023 10:44 amI think I fixed the verification issue, it worked on my own account, but can someone, please, try it as well?
It can be misleading, but it is possible to verify your account without actually saving your duolingo username.
Be sure to save the username by hitting submit button in your forum profile settings.
Oh sorry , @duome , @Xynox121, I misunderstood this comment back then and now I didn't verify it. Thank you, Duome, for correcting my mistake.

@ararat-tempest It should be here (SETTINGS/ACCOUNT), but some users don't have this option.
