ett par jeans

Post by Basler Biker »

In the "travel packing list" stood "a jeans". It was corrected by Crahdol, a native speaker, to "a pair of jeans" / "ett par jeans"

So now the question is "how to say that you take 2 items with you? två par jeans?
Also, what is the definite form of this? paret jeans?
And the plural definite form, using "par"...

And I wonder ... GTran does not use the word "par" in Swedish ...

 • the blue pair of jeans? det blåa jeansen?
 • this blue pair of jeans? detta par blå jeans?
 • that blue pair of jeans? det där blåa jeansen?

Hi Basler Biker.
You managed to correctly answer all of your own questions. For plural definite you still only modify "par" -> "paren".

GTran's way is also fine colloquially, but some might insist that "par" is nessecary. However, Be aware that you cannot have singular "jeans", but you can have a singular "par jeans".

FormEnglishSwedish
Singular Indefinitea pair of jeansett par jeans
Singular Definitethat pair of jeans(det) paret jeans
Plural Indefinitemultiple pairs of jeansflera par jeans eller flera jeans
Plural Definitethose pairs of jeans(de) paren jeans eller (de) jeansen
