Spoke too soon …….Back to BroNze and lost my Tops 3 again , even though I finished top two.

Oh , well .

Plus, it went Invisible during a lesson when trying to level up .( French only .)

Too many glitches over and over. Makes absolutely no sense.

Probably time for me to opt out of the leagues.
I’ll try filing some reports. I am not on any social media , though. Was staying open for some pals .

I’m
Going to enjoy my French book , instead. 🙂

Meli578588 Your data still appears to be fine. Including the league.

Really, try to log-in into the web (https://duolingo.com/log-in), how does it look there? If it's OK, reinstall the app (with wiping all the data and restarting your device). If you still have problems with the app, consider using the web for some time.

Meli578588 It seems your Duolingo account isn't set to public. You can check it here: https://www.duolingo.com/settings/privacy . If Duolingo doesn't remember that the field "Make my profile public" is checked, you may be too young. Anyway, we can't see your profile on Duolingo.

But we can see on Duome that you have been in the Diamond league for 37 weeks, 14 times top 3 finished.

If you know your username and password (If you have successfully logged into the web, I assume you do), you don't have anything to fear. Feel free to complete uninstall the app (including all the data), restart your device, and install the app again. For complete peace of mind, you can install the app on another device before (a frend's or family member's phone).

I went private last night once they dropped me down to bronze again , out of nowhere.

Thank you DaliborNovy .
I am going to take a screenshot of it. It’s some strange glitch on my device. Will I lose all progress by reinstalling ? My account is less than a year young, if that’s what you mean.

I wonder if going private , which I did for the first time , a few weeks ago , messed up my account with all these glitches.

I can switch over to the web, like you said.

🙂Thanks again

Meli578588 I meant child protection, but doesn't matter anymore. OK, you've gone private manually. I think the cause of corruption your local data is rather the change on Duolingo than the setting your account to private. Really, you won't lose your progress or anything else if you know your username and password.

Is the new format (path) going to break the duome stats page? I finally made it over 100 days but it doesn't show me in the rankings.

TammiP The change should have no effect on the stats. Are you sure you are looking at your data? Because this is definitely not you: https://www.duolingo.com/profile/TammiP https://duome.eu/TammiP

It seems to be dead for a long time, even in Duolingo. If this is you, your data has been corrupted in Duolingo.

My Duolingo user name is tammi927110 . I would put it on my profile but I can't find a way to do that.

I believe this link is likely to take you there :

The normal way to get to your signature is to

  1. click on your profile picture that is in the top right of your screen. A drop down menu appears that includes "User Control Panel". Select this option.
  2. Once at the User control Panel, select the tab "Profile", and select "Edit
signature". Then page down until you see the box that allows you to modify your signature.

Your day streak (104) is now on the Duolingo profile (https://www.duolingo.com/profile/Tammi927110) and also on the Duome stats page (https://duome.eu/Tammi927110). And you are in the Junior Streak Hall of Fame (https://duome.eu/junior/26000)

I was just told my new path will be coming shortly.

I thought I could hide out for a while , but no.

I will be studying a lot now, because I don’t think I will be using Duolingo once this happens, unfortunately..

I have learned a lot of French and some Greek again . Japanese , Spanish. A little German . Brushing up on my Italian , too. Etc..

Really too bad because I just got back into my Japanese and Greek.

I will look for other apps in the mean time.

On the "feed" page of my Duo app there's now a story that says "The new Duolingo home screen experience will be launching November 1, 2022 for all learners."

This is it folks :((

The one tiny piece of good news (or at least, not-as-bad news) is that in the FAQs they now say you can go back and revisit specific lessons, and stories, so it is still possible to practice specific content, but even so, I think this forcing of one specific way of learning on to everyone is a terrible idea.

Lots of love to the rest of you out there who feel the same way, and thank you again for your support.

I appreciate “the good news “ you shared with everyone.

I will wait and try out the new path before I make any hasty decisions. 🙂

Why did they remove crowns? I mean I know crowns took awhile to get used to, and I don't think they were absolutely effective, for a harder language, you need more practice than crowns can give you. But to me now they are marks of progress that give you a benchmark of where you're at in a certain skill.

btw apparently https://www-internal.duolingo.com/ no longer records progress (same way as the old apps) :? i.e. when you do a lesson there and then look at the app (the newer versions) that progress is not displayed there

tho since the old layout will be gone soon anyway it hardly matters anymore

Corinnebelle Crowns weren't removed. You just can't see them on the new engine because the separate skills aren't visible there. Thank Goodness you can see them at https://www-internal.duolingo.com/learn or in the skill list at https://duome.eu/Corinnebelle/progress/ . Yes, they are very useful.

LICA98 The progress is visible on the engine where you do it. And also at https://duome.eu/lica98/progress/ . To affect the second engine, the progress has to be consistent (complex) enough.

no it doesn't any progress should be visible anywhere that's how it's always been 🙄 but since recently duolingo disabled the old apps and now https://www-internal.duolingo.com/learn as well (tho the XP is still counted, it's just the progress that isn't)

i.e. when you do a lesson on the app it is immediately visible on https://www-internal.duolingo.com/learn but not the other way around

LICA98 I meant if you do a random lesson on the "tree" engine, it doesn't have to be visible on the "new way". And if you make a new lesson on the "new way" (e.g. Personalized lesson or when the matching skill already has 3 crowns), it doesn't have to be visible on the "tree". The "New way" engine only increases crowns to 3 (+ legendary), no more. And the course progression systems are different.

However, what you wrote looks like the original bug when the "tree" engine was unable to save skill progress. I had tested it before my comment and it worked for me. If the bug is back for some users or courses, I believe they will fix it soon. Maybe, try to start a new lesson from the skill list at https://duome.eu/lica98/progress/ (a new lesson, not practice) . Will the progress be stored? For me, both work now. The "tree" at https://www-internal.duolingo.com and also the skill list at https://duome.eu/YourUsername/progress .

I may already know why it is restricted for some courses / IP ranges / countries. It might be because of these imbeciles or similar https://duome.eu/Trip_oi , see the RAW data in the graph. One lesson in ten seconds or less. They probably abuse the possibility to store the individual skill progress.

yeah apparently when you do it from duome it still works, that's better than nothing 👍🏽

and they not gonna fix anything because it was done on purpose in the first place (in the old apps at least, idk about interal.duolingo)

btw by "old apps" I mean like versions around 4.20 and earlier and newer are 4.60+ (not old path/new path)

LICA98 I had understood you. But since similar behavior had already been and then ceased, I believe it is a bug. Maybe only a temporary delay in the database synchronization. Then the latest change can rewrite the older one. Maybe they're trying to restrict or put an end to the cheaters. I believe it will be solved to the satisfaction of fair users. We'll see.

on the 3.106.5 app I've never had this problem before

btw the problems on the old app and internal duolingo are a bit different, on the old apps the progress just gets erased immediately after you do a lesson whereas on internal.duolingo it stays but just not synchronizing with other devices
