About Saint Lucia:

Saint Lucia is a sovereign island country located in the Caribbean Sea. It covers a land area of 617 square km. and reported a population of 165,595 in a 2010 census.
The country is known for being one of the best places to go on vacation and do activities like scuba diving, zip lining, and snorkeling. And it also has incredible beaches, wildlife, food and tropical landscapes like:

About St. Lucian Creole:

Saint Lucian Creole (Kwéyòl or Patwa) is a French-based Creole language spoken in the island of Saint Lucia.

Kwéyòl is a sub-variety of Antillean Creole, a language spoken by around 1 million people in the Caribbean, and it's closely related to other French-based creole languages like Haitian. St. Lucian Creole is mutually intelligible with other varieties of Antillean Creole, like Grenadian, Trinidadian, Dominican, Guadeloupean, and Martinicquan, so if you're going to visit some of these islands soon, you don't have to worry about learning all the creoles spoken there, besides, most of these islands have English and/or French as their official language, while creoles work as vernacular languages.

French-based Creoles from the Caribbean, apart from being influenced by French, English, and other languages brought by Europeans, were also influenced by some West African Languages like Ewe, Fon, and Yoruba, and Indigenous Languages of the Caribbean like Iñeri, Arawak, and Taíno.
Antillean Creole is literally a mix of French, Iñeri, and Ewe, that evolved since the colonization of the Americas, and later divided into sub-varieties or dialects that have small differences in pronunciation and/or vocabulary, but still are mutually intelligible at a 9397%.

The language is spoken by 158,000 people according to a 2001 census, (around 96% of Saint Lucia's population) but there are some immigrants that speak the language in Dominica, Martinique, Panama, and the US.

Since Kwéyòl isn't in the incubator yet, I made this Unofficial Course with the purpose of teaching the language to this awesome community, and, at the same time, promote the language to make more people learn St. Lucian Creole or Creoles in general, which may just help a little bit in the development of the language outside Saint Lucia.

Here you'll learn some Basic Phrases, Vocabulary, Grammar, Pronunciation, and cultural facts about the language and country. If you have any suggestions to make this course better, or you notice any mistakes in the lessons, please inform me.

É si'w palé kwéyòl, souplé alé bò Incubator-la é ékwi an aplikasyon ba kwéyé on kous kwéyòl an Duolingo. Mèsi an pil!
