What is a Reflexive Verb?

Reflexive verbs are verbs which require doing an action onto yourself. For example; the verb to get dress (одягатися) involves doing an action onto yourself. However, some reflexive verbs just are reflexive and it's best to learn which are reflexive and which are not for example; намагатися, to try.

Example

All reflexive verbs have the -ся suffix added onto the -ти. To conjugate them; remove the -ти, but leave the -ся on the end. Here is намагатися conjugated in the present tense:

  • Я намагаюся
  • Ти намагаєшся
  • Він/Вона/Воно намагається
  • Ми намагаємося
  • Ви намагаєтеся
  • Вони намагаються
