Again the DL Law2 skill puzzles me.
"Politibetjenten valgte å pågripe en person som bor i leiligheten."
gets translated into English:
The police officer decided to arrest a person who lives in the apartment.
However looking up that verb in the DL dictionary
https://www.duolingo.com/dictionary/Nor ... uery=valge
shows nothing like deciding.
Looking up the preterite 'valgte' on the other hand, surpisingly does bring up 'decided'.
Hence my puzzle:
Is the verb å velge in popular Norwegian used for making decisions too, or at least preferably? Or does the use of å velge have to do with the type of work/office when decisions have to be made?
Confirmation eitherway would be very interesting for proper understanding in what cases to opt for å bestemme seg and in what instances å velge should be used.
