Cached data

Post by Karl664899 »

Hello, I wrote yesterday as a reply about my Duome data not updating (see copy below).

So today, my first Duome request was OK. The data was current. The second and all further requests used data from the cache. XPs and Streak were not updated anymore. The number of crowns increased by 29 because crowns from some courses that I deleted 2 years ago were also counted.

Any idea how I can get my Duome data current again?

Thanks
Karl

Once your extended profile is accessible you can refresh your Duome status:

Hi! This doesn't work for me. Yesterday everything was ok. I was learning Swedish from English on the desktop in the afternoon. Then I made one lesson on the tablet in the night (Russian from Spanish), which I don't see in the raw data anymore. Now Duome is still showing me the cached data from yesterday.

Should be ok now, but you never know for how long.
Upd: it was only good enough for about an hour after I removed all limitations.

We've been having a lof of issues with Duolingo blocking too many external requests recently, so we're limiting the number of requests to lift the stress off Duolingo, otherwise they make us wait longer and longer. As a temporary solution there are some semi-automatic criterias being involved, like "try to update things at least once a day, otherwise wait" - to let everyone see at least relatively recent data.

There will soon be a refresh button to update your stats on demand, with a proper explanation if the update fails - Duolingo does have its own "balancing" solutions that are somewhat tricky to bypass.

Thank you. Yes it looks better now, but there are still courses listed, on Duome that I deleted a long time ago, for example Greek from English. And they are not listed in my extended profile.

I think it would be helpful to give a feedback about whether an update request has failed and why. I for example tried to update much more than was necessary just to find an explanation for the sometimes strange jumps of crown counts. Two weeks ago I lost about 400, now they are back. I don't know why.

I have the same problem. My Duome isn't updated since July 2., and it shows lots of courses I've deleted long ago.
