How To Upload A Screenshot

Post by dakanga »

NOTE: images can be uploaded to this site of https://forum.duome.eu.
You do not need a third party site such as postimages.org or imgur.com.

Formatting Your Post
Please note, for taking a screen shot read this : https://support.duolingo.com/hc/en-us/a ... creenshot-

Also check out: How To create, upload, share a screenshot (using postimages.org)

  1. Instead of posting your image here on https://forum.duome.eu. , you can choose to use one of the many free image hosting websites, such as :

  2. Upload the image file from your hard drive, or from you "print screen / copy and paste - buffer" to the hosting website you have chosen, following the advice on the site. It will require you to create an account for example. Once done, you should be presented an option to load an image. To paste the image you can :

    • use the dual keys of "ctrl" + "v"
    • or right click your mouse, as described above, and this time the pop up box you will see will have the option to "Paste".
  3. Copy the link to the image you have uploaded.

    • If you are using ImageShack, be sure to copy the Direct link to image The direct link is prominently displayed at the top of the list of links.
    • Also, with Imgur, it will present you pop up windows that allow you copy your image to your clip board.
However it leaves off the file extension .png , which you will need to add yourself.
    • Alternatively, you could use the dual keys of "ctrl" + "c" to copy.
    • Or you could right click with your mouse, and you will get a pop up screen like:
      ![](
and you select the option "Copy image address"
  4. Paste your link to your discussion box on Duolingo.

    • You can use the dual keys of "ctrl" + "v"
    • or right click your mouse, as described above, and this time the pop up box you will see will have the option to "Paste".

You should end up with text link that looks something like :
![](

  • You then need to "format" this link to display your picture.
    • before the link, add ![](
    • then after you link, add )
      i.e.
Your text looks something like :
      ![](https://i.imgur.com/4KOj7EB.png) , and gives you ![](
remember : you also need to have the extension. If you are using imgur, the extension you need is .png. So add this if it is missing.

If you need further assistance, please ask here, and hopefully someone will give you more information.
And off course, if I am able, I will also try to assist.
Also, if you see better ways to explain this, or errors I have made, please point them out. We would all appreciate it.

nb: to do a shout out to https://www.duolingo.com/profile/dogomolo , who kindly in this last week recommended https://postimages.org/.

I had used this site before, I think it was about 2ish 1ish years ago. There was an image I wanted to be able to refer to in Duolingo, that was unable to be seen in Turkey, as the Imgur site was blocked in Turkey. The contributor that alerted me to this and resolved the issue is the amazing https://www.duolingo.com/jkanero .

However I had misplaced my references to it.

ohhh ohhhhhhhhhh ohhhhhhhhhh - now I have even found the post.

Chromebook screenshots are always saved as files in the computer. But I guess that because they will not be public images, they won't show. I don't know any other way (besides making the image public or something) to do this.

Do you know how other people usually do it?? I've seen them share a screenshot of their DL progress.

UPDATE: Just found out. They post their screenshots publicly on image-hosting sites and copy...ight.

(subnote: public image means putting it up on a website where anyone can see it. )
