pas de quoi - how do you translate it?

Post by MoniqueMaRie »

I have a sentence: "tu n'auras pas de quoi rire" with the meaning "that's not funny/there's nothing to lauch about".

But what exactly does "pas de quoi" mean?
"Quoi" = "what"
"pas de quoi" = "nothing whatever"???

Can I get some examples?

salut !

  • y'a pas de quoi (me remercier) ...et "de rien" ...is a bit like "np" (no problem)...(imho a term to be avoided)
    no reason enough to tank me, it was effortless, took me no time to help you ...

  • another way to say that you have done something willingly and effortless, would be "ça va de soi" ...
