Copying this here too; reply in either thread. Part of the problem is not being sure which is more accessible users....

Ideas to Organize the Irish Subforums
Post by CaitNicRun » Wed Feb 23, 2022 3:45 pm

I'm making a quick post now and will try to follow it up later.

As we know everything is in flux. Currently there are three potential subforums for Irish learners and speakers, but it's not very clear how they should function. I definitely see a potential for a Gaeilge only subforum, either in the Irish general discussion or the Irish to English subforum with wasn't a thing at Duo. In fact, it doesn't make sense IMHO even though a space has been reserved. That might be the perfect place to have an Irish only sub.

Unfortunately, tá a fhios agam nach bhfuil mé in ann faoi sin, moderating as Gaeilge, that is. We really need a mod who is fluent.

In the meantime other organization can happen. Post any ideas. I'll check back go luath.

Dia dhuit!

I have followed this discussion about subforms with interest.
And I believe it's a good idea.

But honestly.
How big is the group of people interested in Irish?
Unfortunately not very big... :(

I believe that the Irish forum, for now, can do fine without sub forums.

Hey... what is a crosspost?

When short of ideas, take a look at how I imagined the Sxwedish from English forum.
Also not for a big mass of learners, yet even more interesting and probably "feasible" ti keep it a bit structured.
I wouldn't dare to do the same for say the SP from EN ...

Maybe the Idea of TAGS isn't too bad either. They are searcheable per Category, and no real parallel subforum structure is required.
So if not a forum substructre, I would strongly advise the use of tags, in some way.
For SE from EN they appear in the Titles, It's not too bad, but you could also just have them in the text part.
Easier to edit BUT needs to be tagged for every post again, whileas in the Title, the tags repeat in the "RE:..." replies

have fun ;-)

No, I am not fluent by any mean. Just a beginner who is struggling with the basic.

So I have high hope this can turn out to be a good place.
