[RESRC] [ARCHIVE] List of Swedish reading, watching and listening resources.

Some of the most common questions and requests here are about whether the Swedish course is getting Stories, or what to do once you've finished the relatively short Swedish tree. It seems like what's most requested is more content, so I figured it might be a good idea to compile a list of free immersion and study resources, as much for myself to refer back to as for learners who might stumble upon it.

This list is by no means exhaustive and I've mostly stuck with bigger portals or platforms with lots of content rather than list individual shows or programs. If you have suggestions for where to find more resources please feel free to leave them in a comment.

1. Listening

Radio Sweden på lätt svenska

Public radio news in easy to understand Swedish with a transcript so you can read along.

Klartext

Another news program with simpler language.

Ekot

Regular public radio news.

SR poddar & program

A gigantic archive of programs from Swedish public service radio. You can stream or download programs as podcasts, or listen to live radio.

Yle

Finnish public broadcasting in Swedish. You can stream or download programs as podcasts, or listen to live radio. Note that most accents you'll hear will be finlandssvenska.

Spotify

You can find lots of of audiobooks and podcasts on Spotify, and lots of Swedish music of course.

Radioföljetongen och radionovellen

A section of SR that has serialised stories and short stories read as audiobooks. The short stories are under 30 minutes and usually very well read, so they make for good bite-sized stories.

Språket

A radio show all about language. It's made for natives so not easy listening, but it discusses a lot of aspects and quirks of the Swedish language.

2. Reading

8sidor.se

Short news pieces in very simple Swedish.

Radio Sweden på lätt svenska

Public radio news in easy to understand Swedish with a transcript so you can read along.

SVT.se

The news website of Swedish public service television. Mostly shorter news pieces based on TV news with accompanying video clips.

Litteraturbanken

Lots of public domain e-books. Some of these are very old and make for very difficult reading, but there are some gems to be found here.

3. Watching

SVT Play

Streaming site for Swedish public service TV. A gigantic trove of television programs of all kinds, but you need to be in Sweden or use a VPN to watch some of them.

Öppet arkiv

"Open Archive", a subsection of SVT Play with lots of archived older programs, going back many decades.

UR Play

Streaming public service educational content. Might require a Swedish IP or a VPN.

Rosa Mannen

A YouTube channel with an astonishing number of random clips, music performances and full programs digitised from old TV broadcasts. Mostly from the 80s and 90s.

Nyheter på lätt svenska

A news program with simpler language and more explanations than regular news.

Filmarkivet

Archive footage and short films from the Swedish Film Institute.\n\n##Other stuff

Kravpedagogik.se

Another huge list of more varied Swedish language resources. Thanks to GMJJmjiD for the link.

A resource that's not free but that you might have available anyway is to make a profile on Netflix with the language set to Swedish so you can watch shows with Swedish audio and/or subtitles. Most things are not dubbed here, but children's shows and animation often are. Be warned that dubs and subtitles are often made entirely separately and often differ substantially. Other streaming sites might have the same option, but I don't have access to any at the moment so I can't test them.
