Berliner Schnauze (BBC article)

Post by IceVajal »

The BBC published an article about the dialect spoken in and around Berlin.

BBC: Berlin's beloved (and loathed) local dialect.

I feel this article is mixing "berlinerisch" oder "berlinern" (verb) with "Berliner Schnauze". The first is the dialect and the second is the attitude, the at first glance harsh, unpolite and direct short answers one might receive. Usually spoken in the dialect Berlinerisch.

(I´m not a native Berliner, just been marooned here for the last 40 odd years)

Deutsch: "native". English: I´m gettin along. Chinese: Learning. Swedish: just started.
