Word Order

Post by janiqua »

To translate 'I only swim in the sea', I put 'denizde sadece yuzerim' which was wrong.

The correct answer was 'sadece denizde yüzerim'

What's the grammar rule here that says to put the adverb at the front?

Your answer was in fact correct; you should flag it as it should be accepted. But also note the difference between those two phrases: sadece comes right before the word that it modifies—which can be a noun, adjective, adverb, or verb—and

Sadece denizde yüzerim tells "you swim in nothing but the sea", whereas

Denizde sadece yüzerim tells "you do nothing but swim in the sea".
