I used "volas" instead of "deziras" and it was counted incorrect. I triple checked to be sure I didn't have any typos or other errors.

For now, I'll report this because many sentences in Duo use voli in this sort of sentence. But if anyone has any input about voli vs deziri, I'd appreciate it.

Why not volas?? It's completely correct...

The English specifically says: The big group of tourists wants to see . . . ", not "wishes to see", yet "volas vidi" is still marked wrong. (I reported this.)

I think you were probably right to report it, but I wouldn't get too hung up on the difference between "want" and "wish" in English. Personally, I translate both voli and deziri as "to want."

The important thing to take away is that voli has to do with will and volition, while deziri has more to do with desire or inclination.

Why is it "grupo de turistoj" and not "grupo da turistoj?"

With da it would mean something like "a group worth" or "a group load" of tourists. It's a possible expression, but it's not how we normally think of these things:

A group came through. The group consisted of tourists. (DE)
Tourists came through. How many? A group load of them. (DA)
More examples here.

Rejected:
"La granda grupo de turistoj volas vidi multe en Hungarujo."

Not sure what DuoLingo didn't like about that translation, but I've reported that it should have been accepted.
