Yep - the subtle difference between...

A madarak gyümölcsöt esznek = The birds eat fruit.
A madarak megeszik a gyümölcsöt. = The birds eat the fruit.

Wouldn't a more accurate translation be "The birds ate the fruit" since the meg is implying a completed action?

Bár nem gond, csak jelzem, hogy ez a fórumág a "Beszélek magyarul" ág '"Angol"-t tanulóknak szánt elágazása, ezért a megbeszélés alapnyelve a magyar.
A magyart tanuló angolul tudók elágazása (ahol a megbeszélés nyelve az angol) a : viewforum.php?f=41-hungarian

Viszont a kérdéshez kapcsolódva, a "The birds ate the fruit." nekem úgy tűnik, hogy múlt időt jelez, azaz például az "A madarak megették a gyümölcsöt." mondatot.

Azt nem tudom, hogy lehetséges-e a(z) "(madarak )eszik" és a "(madarak )megeszik" megkülönböztetése az angolban, de remélem, hogy talán valaki még megadja majd itt erre a választ.
