Once you get a crown it should be like xp. Even if they change a course to remove crowns, you should never get a crown you accumulated numerically taken away from you. I mean darn it! I have five fewer crowns today than I did yesterday and this sort of thing happens all the time.

Re: Crowns (Darn it!!)
Well, soon we won't have to worry about losing crowns anymore. All crowns are going to be removed in the next update

Re: Crowns (Darn it!!)
My intention was to finish all crowns for the 53 trees of languages I know, plus three I hardly know anything about.
So my theoretical maximum number of level 5 trees was 56 (all crowns, before the current legendary level).
But due to tree upgrades and crown losses already achieved, I was ultimately "targeted" 50 full trees at Level 5.
...I have 49 now, and I'm afraid it won't be possible, hahahaha!
Although if I think about it, I've surely completed a hundred trees at level 5!

Re: Crowns (Darn it!!)
Jacko079 From what I understand, it will be rolled out for all users by the end of the summer (in the northern hemisphere, I guess).
But on the website they say:
When we feel confident that the change makes Duolingo more effective and delightful, then we make it available to all learners!
I' not sure what that really means. You can never tell with Duolingo. The Japanese students for example have been waiting 2 years for the latest course update, and we are still waiting...

Re: Crowns (Darn it!!)
Not sure why the crowns are unstable but what I think is that when certain courses are revamped, they replace or revamp circles (or what ever you call them - modules?) and then you lose crowns associated with discarded or revamped circles.

All of our crowns will be removed on the next update ? Why would they do such a thing ? Et merci pour faites-nous savoir ceci.

Since 2018 crowns have been the best way to measure progress in the courses. Accumulating experience is extremely easy nowadays. But earning crowns requires effort and concentration by the students. I have no idea why they decided to remove them in the new version. I'll miss them

Re: Crowns (Darn it!!)
Explorer Will they introduce path points? Like tree notches and you'll measure experience that way?

Re: Crowns (Darn it!!)
Corinnebelle I'm not sure whether they're introducing something else to replace the crowns... They didn't say anything about it. The question is: will we still be able to see our crowns on Duome?

I really like the Crowns, too.
Not sure why they are taking away all the great stuff for learning a language.

Re: Crowns (Darn it!!)
For me on the app the sum of the crowns in a course is not visible any more.
But I got more possibilities to easily double my XP - greater emphasis on the gaming factor

The user interface changed for me too. The number of crowns is not displayed anymore. There are only gems, hearts and streak.

Right! But where I still check on my crowns (and international ranking!) is on my duome profile.
And: Good second point about doubling xp opportunities and gaming factor.

Re: Crowns (Darn it!!)
What's the point of earning lingots if you can't spend them on legendary challenges any longer?
No more blue crowns that glow in the dark,
anyhow I kept them locked up in a crown cabinet,
with a Geiger counter next to them.
