Hello all,
I have been learning Polish for a while now, and I'm about 2/3 done with the course. Recently, I have begun translating basic unofficial Duolingo stories (https;//www.duostories.org) into Polish. Before the stories can be visible on the website, they must be reviewed by someone else. I have attached them here: https://www.duostories.org/?story=1681, https://www.duostories.org/?story=1683, https://www.duostories.org/?story=1685, https://www.duostories.org/?story=1686, https://www.duostories.org/?story=1689, https://www.duostories.org/?story=1691, https://www.duostories.org/?story=1692, https://www.duostories.org/?story=1693, https://www.duostories.org/?story=1694, and https://www.duostories.org/?story=1697.
I'm wondering if there's anyone out there who would be willing to review these translations, and tell me in this discussion. Thanks

Re: Help reviewing Polish translations
to… tania kurtka (you can’t have instrumental after "to”).
swoja żona -> jego żona (you can’t use „swój” in the nominative in the normal meaning, there are a few expressions like „swój człowiek” but in that case „swój” means something like “trustworthy”).
twój paszportu -> twojego paszportu
twój paszport jest w dłoni -> paszport masz w dłoni/w ręku; paszport jest w twojej dłoni/twoim ręku (you don’t need to repeat „twój paszport”, but it makes sense to specify you’re not talking about your own hand).
dziękuję (typo)
poproszę->proszę (you can use „poproszę” in specific contexts like „poproszę sałatkę” or „poproszę cię żebyś…” but otherwise „proszę” is the neutral word for “please”).
nowy płaszcz - you should decide whether you’re talking about a “coat” (płaszcz) or a “jacket” (kurtka) and not use both interchangeably throughout the story.
czy chcesz więcej -> czy wolisz
pan robi dobrze swoją pracę -> pan dobrze robi/wykonuje swoją pracę
i kupić = ???
nie tu pracuję (this is not the place where I work) -> nie pracuję tu (I don’t work here).
grę wideo -> grę komputerową
do sklepie -> do sklepu
dobra gra -> dobry mecz
“idźcie” is definitely wrong but I don’t know how best to translate it for the story to make sense.
do stacji -> na stację
bierze taksówkę -> wsiada do taksówki / jedzie taksówką
jest dobrze -> dobrze
tu jesteśmy -> już jesteśmy
zaczyna (typo)
ja wiem -> wiem
pomidorem (typo)
ziemniaki czipsy -> frytki
Lucja -> Łucja
nazwa -> imię (inanimate objects can have „nazwy”, not people)
to jest bardzo droga -> to jest bardzo drogie
sok pomarańczowego -> sok pomarańczowy
pieniędzy (typo)
dla (typo)
nowego (typo)
In some stories I could only hear one persons voice. The voice also pronounces „mmm” as “mam” for some reason.
I would also change all the „ah”, „oh” to either „ach”, „och” or „a”, „o”, especially since the voice pronounces „oh“ as „oł” like English.
