Impossible streaks, etc.

Post duome

I stumbled across yet another impossible stat so I finally implemented the "impossible stats tracking" for future reference:

  • a streak longer than your account age is obviously impossible
  • anything more than 1000xp per lesson should be impossible
  • less than 20 seconds between the lessons is impossible/unhealthy :?:
  • lessons at the exact same time of the day for 2+ consecutive days is nearly impossible

Anything else? Most notably - the 20 seconds threshold - did you ever manage to do a lesson in less than 20 seconds? I know there were some very short lessons in the middle of the Portuguese course where the entire lesson contained like 2 or 3 short sentences - these might be doable in under 20 seconds, but it's probably the only exception.

Edit: I would still say that 20 seconds is rather undoable if you consider all animations and all the waiting and clicking between the lessons

^^^ Example of questionable/impossible daily progress data - this is how it will be displayed.

I have checked my raw data. There is one 20s (not pictured here) and some others close to 20s.

And there is a 19s down below (pictured). No, it's nothing else. It's just me. Even below may be possible.

Shall we lower it to around 10 seconds then?
This is actually why I'm asking this question - to avoid "false positives"...

What exactly was that 19s lesson, by the way?

Listening exercise. Some are short with 5 questions only. You just click one after another. I usually ping to machines in USA in about 200ms from where I am. That would only take 10ms or so if you are in USA.

What's the math behind those listening exercises? 5 questions = 10xp?

Listening exercises can be done even when you have no lives left. Or when you’re trying to quickly hit your daily goal, like doing 12 listening exercises.

So, I did a listening exercise and surprisingly it was credited with a skill name from 20+ units back.
Today I learned how you can get non-sequential skill names in your raw "recent practice sessions" data.

Can you, please, pay attention to what you get when you do a listening exercise - do you get some skill name or do you get a generic "personalized practice", or do you get both depending on random something?

Even 14 second is possible. I came across an exercise with only one question. So it didn't take long.

Was it a listening exercise again? All these 5xp sessions - all are one-sentence lessons?

No, I ran out of "lives" and was doing regular exercises to get some back. I came across one or two of them with one question only and some others only with a few (four or five).

Oh, do they give you 5xp for old lessons, no matter how long those lessons are? I didn't do them for a long time, so I couldn't remember.

I'm doing Duolingo on a desktop. So yeah, there are 5 "lives" and you can do some exercises when you run out of "lives" to get some back. That was it. Usually they have more than 10 questions but in this case there were much less than 10 of them. Maybe a happy hour bonus?
