Hi!
I see a lot of flags on people's names and I signed up before that was an option when signing up. Does anyone know of a way to add a flag to your account now? I can't seem to find it in settings.
Thanks for the help!!
Dear anyone,
Your duolingo forum registration isn't automaticaly transferred to duome forum so in order to join duome forums you need to register with your existing or any other username and email; in any case it's advised that you choose a new password for the forum.

I had that problem yesterday, and it somehow got fixed on its own. Possibly a glitch. Keep checking your profile - when it shows up, you'll see it.

I see it under admin session and I can't see any permissions that would allow or disallow to use flags. Anyway, I can set the flag for you if you like.

"Any fields marked with a * must be completed."If I try to remove the flag, after having set it, I get a warning
"You must choose a flag."
and can't save.
Default setting. I made it optional - would you, please, try again?
That option and several others appear on the "Edit profile" page as soon as a user has 3 posts. That's also the moment when the user no longer belongs to the Newly Registered Group.

You currently have 2 posts. Apparently that option appears as soon as you have 3 posts. Try making a new post and check Profile afterwards.

Sorry for the confusion, I have the flag now, I just had to have 3 posts. Sorry for the trouble

I have that same problem! But now I know why since I literally just registered so I have not posted three times yet. At least that saves me time going through the entire menu trying to find how to add flags

Thats why it seems that the flag is not obligatory anymore. It is not marked as a mandatory field.

I've posted four times now but I still can't find an option to either 'edit profile' or add a flag. Is there something else I need to do? Thanks!

It's 10 posts at the moment. Just tell me which flag you need and I will do it for you
Thank you! I will wait and sort it once I get 10 posts, I just wondered if I was missing something

I also have the challenge. Do I understand correctly that once I've posted three times that I will then get the option to pick a flag? Thanks

Yes, you are correct.

I had the same question. Seems like I just need a few more posts. I'll wait!

I've posted 3 comments and I'm still not seeing anywhere to choose a flag for my account. The only place I see an option for it is on the register new account page.

I'm wondering if I am misunderstanding your question, or if there's something missing from 01tmJ8kb's post that I am (inadvertently, but correctly) assuming.
I read this as
Is that what you were seeking? Or did I misunderstand something?
You need to post at least 10 comments to choose a flag.

Thanks! That's fair enough. I guess I'm already halfway to that after this post.
That said, it is a little bit confusing how people kept on saying the requirement was 3 comments when I searched about it.
Also, it seems kind of strange that if I were to delete my account and create a new one, the registration page lets me pick my flag from the get-go before I've even posted 1 comment let alone 10. The registration page didn't have this option when I joined. (Nor did it have the "Duolingo username" text entry field that I see there now either. I wonder what that does?)

- Click on your user icon—the rightmost icon at the top of the page.
- Click on the first item—"User Control Panel"—in the drop-down menu that appears.
- Click on the "Profile" tab (second from the left) on the page that appears.
- Click on the "Edit Profile" option (topmost option in the list on the left).
- Right above the "Submit" button, there should be a drop-down list labeled "Flag:", which might have "Choose your flag" selected.
Click on that drop-down menu, select the flag you want (e.g. "Great Britain" or "Japan").- Click "Submit."
Is that what you were seeking? Or did I misunderstand something?
Only steps 1-3 are possible for me. Steps 4-6 aren't possible because I don't have that "Edit Profile" option at all. In step 4, the topmost option in the list on the left is "Edit signature" instead. (As of right now, with having posted 4 comments.)

mog86uk I think the confusion is caused due to changes which been made here the last 2-3 weeks. Duome is still working on creating this place with all features users want. Just like rearranging the forum structure changed these days, there are other things which happen in the background, so please be patient with Duome!

Hi!
Can you please check if there are more features in your profile now?
The ability to edit your profile, etc.
duome The "Edit profile" option seems to be there now. Thanks! I've still only made 5 posts though. Is this because requirement for number of posts has been changed?

This is because we see that you're a credible person and we believe that you can be promoted to the regular "registered users" group instead of "newly registered" without all the waiting etc
Technically speaking it depends on which group you're in. Newly registered users can't do some things and sometimes need their posts to be approved.
