Phobias or Fears😱

Yesterday Clozemaster gave me a sentence "Hai una fobia dei pagliacci?" (Do you have a fear of clowns?) so I instantly replied "Yes, I've had a fear of clowns since childhood when a ghastly grinning creature leapt at me and tried to comb my hair with a plastic blue comb the size of a ladder! (Tenor Beniamino Gigli in the opera "I Pagliacci" is another story, however;-)

So does anyone else have a phobia or fear of anything in particular?

I don't particularly like clowns, but it's not as far as a fear/phobia. Very few clowns impress me.

I think for me, it's certain animals that live in my area. Bats in particular. I accidentally touched a bat in my garage in September 2024 and went through a bevy of questions from our Health Department to determine if I was at risk for rabies. I looked up rabies and decided that must be one of the most horrible ways to die, so my fear increased when it came to bats, even though the chance of them carrying rabies is about 1%. That's enough for me.

Yes, orcas. Every year they attack and sink small boats in the Atlantic. Experts still don't agree on why they do that. Some say they do it just for fun. That's pretty scary.

Yes, wasps. Or anything yellow-coloured saying BZZZZ really. In fact, make it anything saying BZZZZ because I can't always see that it's just a fly. It's pure evil and no amount of justification ("they're good for the flowers") will make me think of them with anything other than pure hatred.

Do you have those big - black ones where you live ?

Per the question : I’m not too thrilled with going up the mountains that are very curvy roads ( around the very narrow mountain ) where one small jerk of the wheel and over the edge everyone goes.
•It’s the heights ..

Sharks for me as a kid. When I saw jaws for the first time , I thought it would come up the drain in the pool .
I didn’t swim in the deep end for quite a while.

Heights for sure, and at the other end of the spectrum ... potholes. I remember some time ago a group of potholer experts/divers rescuing a young football team trapped in some unreachable caves. Incredible story.

Big black flies or wasps?
The flies, yes. In norwegian they're called "spyflue" (vomit fly).
The wasps? Idk, global warming has brought in some new species of really big more dull coloured ones. But they're not as aggressive as the regular bright yellow ones.

Oh, sorry ..Forgot to write : big , black bumble bees.
We have the big flies , as well. ( Interesting name called there. ) I learned something new.

Just starting seeing them some years ago. Huge !
Their buzz sound is extremely loud. One came at me once. Sacred the bejesus out of me .

Also , I was in a swarm- cloud of them once. ( small regular yellow) I stayed calm , walked slowly and into the house.
I got lucky and escaped unharmed

Ugh that's so scary. I wish I could move to some place wihout things saying BZZZZ. But the only place I can possibly think of like that would be northern Greenland or something, and that's not very livable for other reasons.

Yes, northern Greenland is probably mosquito-free, but in southern Greenland I was bitten by more mosquitoes than ever before anywhere else.
