Just discovered the snow shower feature*. Nice one Duome!
*(snow flake icon just above practice words and tips - also a nice new feature)

Many people under "old features of DL" regret that there isn't a "typing only" option.
Here on duome.eu we have "practice" but also "practice/type" ...so, listen (fast and slow), and then type what you think to have understood
Try your language, but duome.eu at this moment doesn't have all the languages available...
In fact, basically it's any language as on DL "From English ...learning..."
https://duome.eu/practice/type/uk this one is NOT UK but Ukrainian
https://duome.eu/practice/type/sv Swedish
https://duome.eu/practice/type/es Spanish
etc

I opened this thread and, without realising, read my own post about the snow and went looking for it!

On veut de la neige S'il vous plaît
•That was a really neat feature to have.

(sings) "I'm dreaming of a white Christmas...."
Obrigado

S'il n'y a pas de neige dehors, au moins il y en a ici, sur le forum.

*"Você quer construir um boneco de neve?"
That doesn't quite scan so well in Portuguese

Still an Elvis fan, I love "Blue Christmas" , the backing singers on the original are sublime.

Sorry to play the killjoy but in duome.eu/username the snowfall starts automatically and it is disturbing. Instead of the snowflake icon like here, there is only the dark mode button. How can I disable it there?

STORM HITS THE FORUM

We had 1 cm of real powdry snow today.
On TV there was more, but it was all fake.
And it came to pass, in the season that was called Winter,
Though winter itself was absent from the land,
That the forum stood beneath a blackened sky,
And lightning rent the heavens in open scorn.
Thunder mocked the works of men,
And the storm laughed without mercy.
And Duome spoke, saying, This thing cannot be automated, ;-(
For even machines know when a lie is too great.
Nor could the weather be shaped to every village and screen—
Yet Android, swollen with pride, did so anyway, and boasted.
And behold, there fell upon the land
One centimeter of powder-dry snow—
A holy relic, measured and rationed,
As if heaven itself were economizing.
But the people were not satisfied.
For the 4-Schanzentournee was at hand,
And its altars demanded whiteness.
So the snow cannons were awakened,
And they roared like false prophets with iron lungs.
They cried, Winter! Winter!
And blasted the mountains day and night,
Painting a single strip of blinding white
While all around lay rust, mud, and shame.
And the people said, This is good television.
The hills were shaved bare for the spectacle,
The forests already gone, their roots forgotten.
The slope gleamed for the cameras,
While the land beyond it looked on in disgust.
And when the hymns of cheering were finished,
And the commentators fell silent,
The miracle failed at once.
For the fake snow melted like doctrine under truth,
And the waters ran unchecked.
The mountains, stripped of their guardians, gave way,
And the soil slid downward in anger.
Thus came erosion instead of legacy,
And landslides instead of pine trees.
The earth recorded the event faithfully,
Long after the medals were handed out.
This was not winter.
This was not sport.
This was not even progress.
It was the 4-Schanzentournee,
Held together by compressors, denial, and broadcast rights—
And the mountains paid the price.
And the storm departed, having said enough.
