Just a very basic question:
In DuoLingo Hanzi lessons, you practice handwriting Hanzi, which is very understandable.
But the typeset version is slightly different.
In some cases, the horizontal bars are full in typeset, and half width in handwriting version.
An example is 旧.
Is what is DuoLingo teaching us to do correct?
Or should we go full width also in handwriting or what else?
I understand this is a very elementary question, but this is my level at this moment!

My Chinese teacher in university told me that you should always make sure that every character fits into a square - even if you write by hand.
Nevertheless, when writing by hand, it often happens that a stroke is shorter or a box is rounder than in printed Chinese (no to speak about calligraphy).
I have a really old but very good German-Chinese dictionary (printed in 1985 in the GDR). All the characters there are written by hand.
In the overview, the radical | is shorter than the box behind it. On the page with the translations, however, the whole character 旧 (written by hand) fits perfectly into a square.
