So you uploaded Duolingo achievement screenshots.
That is not related to Duome then.

You may want to submit a bug to DL staff here:
https://www.duolingo.com/help/support-request

Be aware: Not all DL courses offer enough content to reach the minimum word count to qualify for any achievement.
Looks like most courses for Chinese speakers are longer already.

As DL devs are changing their system that much it just might be that it's broken, old code is death patched or the old function of word count got completely removed in the code, can't say for sure.

As no DL staff / admin / developer is around we - the community of Duome - usually don't know about these internas.

Maxime @duome can only fix issues with your personal www.duome.eu/USERNAME profile as long as data can be refreshed and the Duolingo backend APIs are not totally broken.

Hello! My word count also won't increase. I see that many other people having this problem have been helped here. My username on Duolingo is "Finn" my sub username is "Finn-P" and my "Scholar" badge has been stuck a 665 words (I am now at 758!) for a while. I use Duolingo on a browser if that changes anything. That you for your help!

Interesting observation. It could well be the reason why it's stuck, yet you do have word counts larger than required - in French and Portuguese - I would expect them to be taken into account when calculating your "Scholar" level.

Hmm. Do you have my account wrong? I only have done Spanish (758 words) and the occasional American (for fun) other than German. I have attached my profile picture if it helps anything. Thank you for your time!

I got it wrong - you said your username is Finn - that's your name, while username is what you called a sub username - https://duome.eu/Finn-P - duolingo reported only 256 words for your Spanish, nothing more - neither 758, nor 665.

I would suggest trying English from Spanish in addition to Spanish from English, do some lessons there until you see your word count increasing, then try to bring it up to 750 (it shouldn't be too long to reach this amount). Starting a new course would ensure that you don't have any "changed" skills in your data (like you do have in Spanish - these might be getting in the way when the word count is being calculated by Duolingo).

Thanks! One more question. When it says "Jump here" in your course, if you pass the test and jump there, does it count as "learning" the words leading up to that point on your scholar badge?

I didn't try jumping, but from what I know it does calculate personal vocabularies based solely on your current skill (where you are on your path). It doesn't hurt to try it on a freshly started course if you only need it for testing purposes.

Hi, I restarted my course and I have learned 1500 words, but I don’t get the word collector achievement, like it doesn’t add up… I would really appreciate it if you could fix this problem.

https://duome.eu/Nanushkanana - it currently says 878 words for Italian - try to work it up to 1500 in this particular metric and see what happens (Duolingo seems to be counting words/lexemes in some weird way that we cannot fully understand now).

I am currently trying to figure it out. I am doing 4 languages; Chinese, Yiddish, Russian and Spanish. I do lessons that I know should count for words and yet I don't see anything change. This morning I was given a message by Duo that I had learned 7 new words in Spanish and Russian (total 14) but nothing changed on the word count. My word count was stuck at 1506 for more than 2 months and a few days ago it went to 1508 and yesterday it jumped to 1511, no rhyme or reason. So, according to Duo this morning I should have gained 14 points but nothing changed. Hmmm, maybe the word owl is on a long break!

I recently restarted one of my language courses, and since then, I’ve noticed that my Word Collector achievement has stopped updating. Even though I’m learning new words and progressing through lessons, the achievement count hasn’t increased at all. I’ve tried logging out and back in, and my app is up to date, but the issue still persists. Could you please look into this or let me know if restarting a course affects the Word Collector progress?

I am just posting for those who are like me and wondering why Duo word count has bugs. I have been trying for months now to get this fixed but nothing has worked.

This morning my word count increased from 1511 to 1514, however Duo said I had learned 12 new words so it should have gone to 1523, hmmm. I also noted that only when I did the Yiddish lesson did the word count increase. My Russian and Spanish lessons also told me I had learned new words but nothing was counted in the official word count.

I am a fairly bright person, but I feel at a loss trying to figure out how Duo is counting words for this "magic" word count that doesn't seem to follow any rhyme or reason. Just saying...

Update Frequency
In order to update more than half a million known usernames one by one duome needs roughly a year if it revisits one profile per minute, and even though it can be done in several threads in parallel, the update queue would still be way too long with this amount of usernames. This is why there is now a blue refresh button on every profile page, so you wouldn't have to wait for days or weeks (or more) for a scheduled update. Just click that refresh button when needed.

There's also a smaller refresh toggle next to your "Languages by..." section — this one is there to update your word counts. Sometimes this very small piece of data takes the longest to update, this is why it had to be placed under its own toggle.

https://duome.eu/vinayak.kaizen - it does report 55 for Japanese at the moment, not thousands, and based on the number of skills you learned (one) it cannot be thousands at least for Japanese, and probably not for the other two.

By the way, what exactly did you do to get a series of 499 xp sessions yesterday, one session per second?

Been there and done that...I discovered that at 1500, my word count would only count one language so all the words I learned in the other languages no longer counted. Maybe that is the problem if you are doing more than one language. Just FYI
