You can use any username that you like when you join duome forum, yet it's better if you use your existing Duolingo username to unlock some extra features and avoid confusion while troubleshooting; in any case it's advised that you choose a different password for the forum.

I posted this the other day then deleted it because it seemed like you'd have to register to get the information. But looking again, I think registering is just an option that may enable greater help.
There are a number of suggested fixes to some of the problems raised by members on Duome. So give it a go.
