Note that a better - the best - place to report that duome not working properly is over the telegram group, especially created for this purpose : See telegram info below.

Because when duome or forum.duome is not working then the mentions to @duome won't work either (as they can't be read by the destinee), whereas telegram is in most cases instantly received and read by the Duome administrator/owner.

Please avoid spreading assumed/unconfirmed reasons like "been hacked" or "missing payments"... most of the time a technical issue is the cause, and a "system/database restart" makes it all working fine again.

Especially on forums like reddit a.o. the most untrue assumptions are too easily spread... Last (recent) time "down" was "just" a DNS address change (service moved to new servers), and the automated forwarding of the new address lasted a few hours, up to max one or even 2 days, till all the internet DNS-servers were informed worldwide and "the world" was aware about the new DNS location. In such case, duome users in some countries had access, others not, depending on where the dns-server is located and whether the new DNS-address was updated there or not yet.

So, thanks for reporting down-status over the telegram group, next wait for a new statement by the admin on the actual situation and the real cause of the issue.

For those of us who don't have a telegram account there's a few other methods of contacting administration:
Through pm.
Through this form:
memberlist.php?mode=contactadmin
Or using the instructions on this page, recommend saving it for reference since if the site's down you won't be able access it:

Could we not just have a Facebook page? Not for anything else other than just in case the forum is down? Telegram seems to have got a bit of a disreputable reputation

This time we're being scanned by OpenAI search bot - apparently they're trying to teach their models on anything they can find online. I'm trying to limit the impact or get rid of them entirely.

Nothing I would be aware of, no complaints either. Could it be ISP related?

I just had one brief "bad gateway 500 sth" response, 10 minutes ago, but a refresh solved it again.

After posting my post above I couldn't reach duome until today (more than one week). I don't know what the problem is. I thought this site is gone for good maybe. Maybe it's my ISP, I'm not sure.

Thank God it's still alive. Because I can follow my progress through this site. duolingo sucks in reporting my progress. For example my current language is English on İtalian and it's not even listed in my duolingo profile.

When it happens again, try reaching us through different service providers - broadband, mobile - to figure out which one isn't working.

It's nearly the same when I want to post something on Patreon - I cannot open it for weeks until suddenly it works without any particular reason (same ISP, same everything), then a few minutes later it becomes unreachable for a few weeks more.

I am experiencing considerable downtime when accessing anything that is associated with duome.eu links

i.e.

This site can’t be reached
forum.duome.eu took too long to respond.
Try:

Checking the connection
Checking the proxy and the firewall
Running Windows Network Diagnostics
ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT

Given time - like about 15 minutes later .... eventually the link will come up.

It may be a restriction - placed particularly on my account.

Is anyone else experiencing this ?

I have been experiencing ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT yesterday while tyring to post something - I had to hit "resubmit form" (can't remember what's the exact message) once or twice before it went through; it happened a few times and it lasted for a couple of minutes each time. I didn't get any messages from our web host so it shouldn't be something they would be aware of. It's probably somewhere in-between.

Perhaps that is not of concern for you.

I hope your team will look into this issue soon

The first check I would always do is try a different ISP (at home, at work, broadband vs mobile connection, VPN or not).

There's nothing we can do if you don't narrow it down to something more specific.

https://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/forum.duome.eu - this is to check whether the website is down for everyone or is it (most likely) ISP related

Well, I don't know how accurate this is, but here's an uptime status page for duome: https://stats.uptimerobot.com/ZOC18f6yiO
You can also see: https://dnschecker.org/#A/forum.duome.eu
And the SSL checker: https://decoder.link/sslchecker/forum.duome.eu/443

One more thing, here's the server load chart for the last 30 days:

Perhaps that is not of concern for you.

As it has been discussed here, this is NOT how many times your posts were viewed, these is how many times these topics were viewed, whether or not someone was viewing any of your posts.

Say, if there's a topic with 100 pages, 30 posts per page = 3000 posts, if someone opens any of those 100 pages, even if that particular page doesn't contain any of your posts, the view count of all 3000 posts in that topic inlcuding all yours would be increased by 1. You can compare view counts of any two posts in a topic and see that their view counts are identical, regardless of where those posts are located in the topic (on the very first page, posted 3 years ago, or on the last page, posted today - both posts would have 8+ million views if they're posted in this thread).

At least part of it can be explained by this:

ChatGPT-User/1.0; +https://openai.com/bot
OAI-SearchBot/1.0; +https://openai.com/searchbot

Ironically their /bot /searchbot explanation pages are unreadable from my location - so they want to read duome, but they don't want duome to be able to read even those explanations - should we probably block OpenAI from reading the forum then?

The funny thing was when I checked the logs and found OpenAI bot vitising the forgot_password page - isn't it .. human-like?.. )

OpenAI forgot its password.. okay... )
