Osówka (part of the legendary “Riese” complex, in the Owl Mountains in Lower Silesia).

Mining and construction works carried out in 1943-1945 resulted in a huge German ground and underground system of corridors, halls and fortifications of military-strategic purpose during the Second World War.

Osówka (part of the legendary “Riese” complex, in the Owl Mountains in Lower Silesia) was annexed by Prussia in the First Partition of Poland in 1772, and from 1871 it was also part of Germany. In 1926, the German government renamed the village to Espenhagen in attempt to erase traces of Polish origin.

Mining and construction works carried out in 1943-1945 resulted in a huge German ground and underground system of corridors, halls and fortifications of military-strategic purpose during the Second World War.

After Germany's defeat in World War II, in 1945, the village became again part of Poland and its historic name was restored.

Sorry, I've already corrected it and I think that may be the case.
...and the links about the "Underground City of Osówka" are up to date! hehe... 😜

Oh! I thought you were going to leave Osówka, not "city" :P

I have one question, I was trying to read a bit more about this city, but it seems that there are quite a lot of pages at the Wiki site…

Which is the one about Osówka, the Underground City?

I think what I wrote earlier about annexation by Prussia &c. was not about the Underground City, but about another Osówka city. Just in case I'm mistaken I removed that part.

Thanks!

𐍃𐍄𐌰𐌳𐌴
'stade' (this Romanization looked to me like Stadt)
Gothic
The genitive plural of 𐍃𐍄𐌰𐌸𐍃/𐍃𐍄𐌰𐌳𐍃 (staths/stads) meaning place, location, shore, site. Possibly related to the -stead in words like homestead, farmstead, instead (= 'in place [of]?), usw.

gene

In genetics, a locus (place, location) is a specific, fixed position on a chromosome where a particular gene is located.

A fancy synonym for indigenous - sort of ties in with gene & locus...
