Contrary to what DL makes out (and quite a few people in the SD have been misled), this is not idiomatic. In Italian we say "errori".
As a matter of fact "fallimento" is much less used than "failure" is in English.

It is true that the idiomatic expression in English uses the word "mistakes" and I would assume that that would also be the case in Italian, however, putting aside idiomatic expressions, we do learn from both (or at least we should), mistakes and failures. Therefore, whoever came up with the sentence simply decided to focus on failures instead of mistakes.
