What's wrong in "Il va en dépenser aux magasins."? It was rejected. Why can't it be "aux"?

I am struggling with dans vs à, too. But it seems that Duolingo almost always translates à as at and dans as in (however, it sometimes accepts using the other one and sometimes it rejects it).

Unfortunately I didn't find much articles about this, most deal with dans vs en.

An example where à is very common, but at would not work in English: in bed - au lit.

actally both are valid: (l'argent de son héritage)

... il en va dépenser dans les magasins.
... il va en dépenser dans les magasins.
... elle va en profiter pour enfin mener une vie confortable
... elle en profitera, mais elle en partagera la moitié avec son mari.

this does not compare to a situation with 2 verb forms
=> notice where "en" is versus the past participle (bu), or versus the infinitive "avoir"

il en a déjà bu de trop (he drank already too many of them, too much of it)
il va en avoir marre;

notice the "en" in cases where there is only 1 verb form.

il n'en sait jamais rien
il en sait trop déjà
