Your duolingo forum registration isn't automaticaly transferred to duome forum so in order to join duome forums you need to register with your existing or any other username and email; in any case it's advised that you choose a new password for the forum.

how come on some sentences you have to put the a but on others (here for example) you don't have to 🤔

I don't understand your question: in both sentences, here and what you linked there is a...
Anyway this is a question, the other is not, and the first a can be omitted, but maybe Duolingo doesn't accept it.
