how come on this sentence it's allowed to put "oda" in front of "ahonnan" but in general it's forbidden to do that 🤔

.... but in general it's forbidden to do that 🤔

Wait, what is forbidden? Who told you that it is forbidden? Or you just came up with the "rule" yourself?

In the Tips and Notes of Dir Conj 1, there is a bit about word order, I copy it here:

Word order
Consider these sentences:
Ott nincs bank, ahova ezek a turisták mennek.
Ott ebédelünk, ahonnan a villamos visszajön.
Ott lakik Péter, ahol Éva dolgozik.
We can see a "Onnan verb1 subject1, ahonnan subject2 verb2". pattern

If you start with the subject:
Subject1 onnan verb1, ahonnan subject2 verb2.

If we have preverbs too:
Oda megy be Anna, ahonnan Béla kijön.
or: Anna oda megy be, ahonnan Béla kijön.

Why? ott/oda/onnan attracts focus, it likes to be directly in front of the verb.
But ahol/ahova/ahonnan avoids focus. Put the verb further away from them, or at least, do not separate the preverb.

(Not all the sentences in this skill follow this order, but several of them.)

Dir Conj 1 is an ugly skill, so I just copy all the sentences here...

Arra megy az egyik villamos, amerről a másik érkezik.
Arról jön a busz, amerről a villamos.
Arról repül ide a madár, amerről az a hajó jön.
A japán énekesnők is arra futnak, amerre az amerikai szakácsok.
Ti arról jöttök, amerre ez az utca megy?
Mi is arról jövünk, amerről ők.
Onnan jön a busz, ahova a gyerekek mennek.
Onnan ugrik le a hülye férfi, ahol egy beteg tigris alszik.
Ott ebédelünk, ahonnan a villamos visszajön.
Ott alszik a fiú, ahonnan elfut a csinos lány.
A kisfiú oda fut, ahova a nagy piros alma esik.
Onnan jövünk, ahonnan ti.
Az egyik busz oda érkezik, ahonnan a másik elindul.
Ott játszanak a gyerekek, ahonnan ez a busz jön.
A sportoló onnan fut vissza, ahonnan a buszok indulnak.
A színésznő ott száll le a vonatról, ahol sok ember vár.

but why don't these sentences accept the word order where "ott/oda" is directly in front of "ahol/va" (e.g. "ebédelünk ott ahonnan visszajön a villamos" is not accepted) but this particular one accepts "A rendőr belép oda, ahonnan a betörő kifut."?

ok actually it is accepted on some others as well (nincs bank ott ahova) but a lot of sentences don't accept it 🤔

Jzsuzsi is right; this is an ugly skill :)

But, the thing with this section is - you are right....ODA is tied to AHONNAN. BELÉP becomes LÉP BE due to focus rules.

The tie-in is like this sentence....
Azt hiszi, hogy okos vagy. - He thinks that you are smart. HOGY is tied to AZT in this case.

The AZT here means something is coming up in the sentence, HOGY fills you in on what it is.

ODA is telling you where AHONNAN is declaring!
