How to reference a time in the relative future?

Post by Crahdol »

皆さん、こんにちは!

How do you refer to a point in time in the future that is relative to now? I know about 明日、来週、来月、来年 etc.
But how about phrases like "in ○ days/weeks/months/etc., where ○ is a number.

I've seen まで used for this purpose, but are there other ways? Maybe something similar in construction to how we can say 三年前 to refer to an event "3 years ago"?

I would just add .

五分で (in five minutes), 二週で (in two weeks), 三年で (in three years), etc.

For example:

 • 電車は十五分発車します: the train leaves in fifteen minutes
 • 五年日本語が話せます: I will be able to speak Japanese in five years

But I'm sure that Madame Sensei knows much more about this question ;)

I know about () for "after X time period" and 以内(いない) for "within X time period" .
Like
3年後に、日本語が上手になります。 I'll become Dogen after 3 years. (:^^_^^:)
3年以内に、日本語が上手になります。---//--- within 3 years.
