"Lascia ch' io pianga"
"Lasciami piangere"
Entrambi sono fragmenti di testo (Haendel, DiDonato). La costruzione con l'infinito mi sembra più comune.

Re: How to see current day's xp in Android app?

On DuoMe you see your XP graph versus one random peer with roughly the same total (in light gray) over four weeks. In order to see the number of lessons, you need to check the raw data (2 weeks) and count lessons. Lessons are less obvious than they used to be, since only the lessons counting for an ...

Gaining hearts: how not to squander your time

Free users have to put up with the hearts system. For app users this is nothing new, website users only face this adversity since last summer. Whenever you stride forward along the path, facing new content or practicing in the 'champion' last chapter, hearts may be consumed more rapidly than you ima...

Re: How to say "I love you" in different languages

Dutch: Ik hou van jou.
Alternative in Flanders and the southern Netherlands: Ik zie je graag.

Alternative formulations (perhaps a bit less passionate):
Spanish: Te quiero. / Te quiero mucho.
Italian: Ti voglio molto bene.

Mission impossible

Duolingo added a story in the 'daily practice" of the Portuguese course from Spanish. That course does not normally include stories: you have no 'story' (cuentos) tab in the practice menu. Hence some stories were made 'on the fly', with some questions left unfinished... https://i.imgur.com/zgPo...

The number of quests completed sometimes goes up by four per day, since DL seems to include also friend quests completed.

The silly quests, such as "meet Falstaff seven times in lessons" have been left aside lately.

No notification from DL nor from chess.com so far. I am not sure I would accept the offer. To the credit of the chess.com sparring partner: you can opt-in on retracting moves, you can show valid moves (useful if you are a real novice), you can choose to play white, you can resign rather than continue a losing game. Even if your ELO score is several hundreds below the 1700 of Lily, you cre...

While Duo is a sparring partner for the chess world champion, Lily wil...

la chiamata è per tua madre : the call is for your mother. (e.g. an incoming call on a landline)
la chiamata è a tua madre : the call is to your mother.

To procure = procurer (Fr). But the Portuguese false cognate 'procurar' means to search/to look for. There is no lexical similarity with the Spanish verb 'buscar' either. Another one is 'conozco' in Spanish = 'I know', in Portuguese conosco = 'with us'; startling at first. The real cognate of the Sp...
